Veena Malik Visits the Red Light Area to Promote Ziindagi 50-50

Veena Malik Visits the Red Light Area to Promote Ziindagi 50-50

The Pakistani model tuned Bollywood controversy queen, Veena Malik is all geared up for her acting debut in the industry with her forthcoming flick Ziindagi 50-50. While the movie deals with the controversial topic of sex workers and prostitution, Veena is trying hard to promote her movie in the best way possible.
Unlike all other Bollywood directors who have made movies on a similar topic, the makers of Ziindagi 50-50 went ahead of their comfort zone and entered the original prostitution world for the promotion of the film. For the very first time in the Indian film history, an actress went to the Kamathipura district and indulged into a conversation with the sex workers there. The lead of the film, Veena Malik along with her co-star, Rajan Verma visited the oldest and Asia's largest red light area in Mumbai for the promotion of their upcoming flick.
The actors went to the area to spread awareness about safe sex. Veena was extremely happy about her movie being released this week and wanted to spend her special day with these women. The actress was heard saying, "It was a great experience to visit Kamathipura and have a word with the ladies. While playing a character of a sex worker in my upcoming movie Ziindagi 50-50, I came across a very big reality of their life and I am trying to help them by creating awareness of safe sex."
According to the actress, the tag of being an 'outcast' that is stuck with the sex workers in the country is a huge discrimination. This is the reason that the actress made a presence in the area to make the women there feel special and a crucial part of the society.
Actor Rajan Veram, who plays a rickshaw driver in the movie, was seen accompanying the actress. He too shared his views over the visit saying, "I am really happy that we are here in Kamathipura to spread the awareness of safe sex in such a particular area where it is very important."
Directed by Rajiv S Ruia, Ziindagi 50-50 is set to hit the screens on May 24th. The movie also stars Riya Sen, Arya Babbar, Supriya Kumari and Rajpal Yadav in the lead roles.

Girish Kumar Speaks of his Long Journey as an Actor

Girish Kumar Speaks of his Long Journey as an Actor

Entering Bollywood is a dream that not everyone is capable of achieving. Newcomers come in now and then, but only some manage to make their presence count in the industry with their sheer talent.
Newcomer Girish Kumar, who is set to make his debut in the industry with his upcoming flick, Ramaiya Vastavaiya, says that it took him almost three years to achieve his dream of being an actor. The actor is however happy with the big break and feels that things are finally falling in place for him. Girish will be seen working opposite actress Shruti Haasan in the movie, which is produced by his father Kumar S Taurani, the Managing Director of Tips Industries Limited.
The movie is directed by Prabhu Deva and the filmmaker was apparently roped in about three years back to launch Girish as an actor. "Acting was always on my mind. I started working on this film one and half year back. He did my screen test for scenes and dance. He liked me in both the areas. He wanted me to be more open as the character was bubbly and loud," Girish said in a recent interview.
Speaking of his journey to reach the place he is in now, Girish stated, "The journey of becoming an actor was too long for me but I do believe things happen at a right time. The timing was correct when I see the trailer. I feel happy when people appreciate. I feel the wait was worth as I did wait for a good quality film."
Now that the actor has wrapped up shooting of the film, which is in its post production stage, he is not contented with his work. "He (Prabhu Deva) selected some songs and gave it them to me so that I could practice upon them. He also appointed a few choreographers who worked with me," Girish adds.
The actor was also a bit overweight before he decided to follow a work out regime and become brawny. Now that he is absolutely robust, the actor's looks are compared to that of Saif Ali Khan's. Girish is however cool about it and says, "Whenever a newcomer comes, people try to relate him with somebody. Many actors have been compared with established stars, so I think it's normal. I think it's a positive thing that they are comparing, but when you will see the film you will realise I am a different person."

Father Asked Shilpa Shukla to do Bold Scenes for B.A. Pass

Father Asked Shilpa Shukla to do Bold Scenes for B.A. Pass

Actress Shilpa Shukla, who rose to fame with her acclaimed performance in Shah Rukh Khan starrer Chak De India! is all geared up for her second movie as a lead, "B.A. Pass". She will be seen doing a few bold sequences in the flick.
Even though the actress was dubious about doing these scenes on screen, it was her late father, N.K. Shukla who encouraged her to do it. "I was skeptical before going ahead with 'B.A. Pass' as it was an extremely bold role. As an actor, I didn't know how it's going to be and at the back of my mind, I wanted to do this film. So, I asked my father about it, and he said, 'You will have to go bold and take the risk'," Shilpa said in a recent interview.
Shilpa's father passed away in March 2012 and the actress dedicates the film to him. "This was his last advice that I remember. This film is dedicated to my father. He is not aware of the film industry, but he said you cannot excel without taking risks," she added.
B.A. Pass is a story of a rich, married woman who reaches the act of lovemaking to a young boy. After giving a tough performance in Chak De India!, Shilpa's bold avatar will be seen in this one. The actress says that her mother has already seen the film and she has loved it. "My father couldn't see the film, but my mother saw it and she loved it. As a mother she was concerned and she advised me to deal with things intelligently. It's a path-breaking film," said Shilpa.
Directed by Ajay Bahl, B.A. Pass is based on Mohan Sikka's short story 'The Railway Aunty'. The movie has already been presented at international film festivals and will hit the Indian screens on the 21st of June. It won the Best Film award at the Osian's-Cinefan festival. The special screening of the movie was attended by Mahesh Bhatt and Pooja Bhatt recently. The film also features Shadab Kamal Rajesh Sharma and Dibyendu Bhattacharya along with Shilpa in the lead roles.
